A front passes out to the east of the North Island overnight. Expect rain to clear most North Island regions by or around midnight then clearer skies developing in behind, Taranaki may see the odd shower continue overnight however. For the South Island conditions are dry in the east, heavy showers in the west.

Auckland & Northland
Periods of rain easing this evening and clearing, northerlies change westerly later. Clear spells overnight.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Periods of rain clearing later this evening or around midnight as
northerlies change northwest. Clear spells and periods of cloud overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 13-15

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with northerly winds, a few spells of rain this evening then
clearing by midnight. Skies clearing up overnight with winds tending
northwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 14-15

Western North Island

Rain this evening then clearing later, northerlies. About Taranaki expect
occasional showers throughout the night.
Tonight’s Low: 14-16

Wellington

Rain clears this evening, mainly clear skies overnight with strong
northerlies gusting to gale force at times.
Tonight’s Low: 14

Nelson

Any remaining showers clear this evening, clear spells with strong north to
northwesterly winds easing.
Tonight’s Low: 13

Marlborough

Any remaining rain clears this evening, mainly clear skies overnight. Gusty
northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 13-14

Canterbury

Mainly clear skies with northerlies easing this evening, winds tend more
northwest overnight. Winds in inland areas will be gusty.
Tonight’s Low: 12

West Coast

Rain, heavy at times with possible thunderstorms. North to northwest winds.
Rain eases towards dawn tomorrow.

Coastal Otago

Mainly clear skies with northerly winds, westerlies freshen towards dawn
tomorrow.
Tonight’s Low: 11

Central Otago

Sunny spells with westerly winds, rain from later this evening especially
in the west of the district.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Southland

Sunny spells with northeasterly winds, overnight westerlies becoming strong
with a risk of gales. Areas of cloud and the odd shower after midnight.
Tonight’s Low: 10
