A large depression affects the countries weather tonight, not too many people will escape the wet weather this low dishes out but some will start to improve overnight. Mainly the West Coast of the South Island although southeasterly winds could be gusty.

Northland
Showers, some heavy with westerly winds. Showers ease overnight, potentially clearing from some eastern areas.
Tonight’s Low: 11-13

Auckland

Showers, some heavy with westerly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 13

Bay Of Plenty

A few showers, some of which could be heavy with westerly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 12

Waikato & Central North Island

Showers, heavy at times with northwesterly winds. Winds change
southwesterly overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Eastern North Island

Mainly clear with some high cloud, northwesterly winds. Overnight a brisk
west to southwest change brings showers.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Western North Island

Showers, heavy at times with west to northwesterly winds. Showers north of
Wanganui may be heavy with thunderstorms from later this evening, winds change
southwest overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Wellington

Showers then rain later this evening, strong northwesterlies change
southerly around midnight.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Nelson

Cloudy with occasional showers, clearing this evening as southwesterlies
develop.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Marlborough

Gusty northwesterlies with occasional showers, spreading from the west.
Winds change southwest later this evening with showers mostly clearing.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Canterbury

Periods of rain with southwesterly winds, gale force about South Canterbury then easing overnight. Rain may become heavy again
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 7

West Coast

Remaining showers clear this evening, cloud breaks up a little overnight.
Southeasterly winds, gusty at times.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Coastal Otago

Rain eases to the odd shower this evening, gusty cool southerly
winds.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Central Otago

Cloudy with the odd shower, mostly clearing this evening although there is
the low chance of a shower or two continuing overnight then clearing around dawn
tomorrow. Southerly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 4

Southland

Cloudy with the odd shower, southerly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 8
