A low is centred just west of the South Island tonight, expect rain for much of the South Island and rain spreads onto the west of the North Island overnight. Southland and parts of Otago will be dry however.

High cloud with east to northeast breezes. Some rain possible towards dawn tomorrow morning, especially for Wairarapa.

Cloudy with showers about Taranaki spreading elsewhere overnight. Heavy rain about Taranaki overnight. Northerly winds.

Wellington
Cloudy skies with northerlies, rain develops during this evening. Heavy falls possible overnight, winds tend southeast tomorrow morning.

Marlborough & Nelson
Rain about Nelson spreads into Marlborough, heavy falls possible later this evening and overnight. Northerlies gradually swing round to the southeast by tomorrow morning.
