Mixing it up – The situation & outlook for Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A southwesterly airflow sits over the country, meaning cloud and showers for western areas of both islands, before the winds turn southwest in the afternoon.

South Island

Southland will see showers and cloud for much of the morning, and possibly continuing into the afternoon – with brisk west to southwesterly winds.

Morning showers will also afflict Otago and Canterbury, though these should clear, leaving just cloud cover behind – and southerly or southwesterly winds.
Further north, Marlborough will see west to northwest winds, on the other hand.

North Island

The East Coast is looking at a mostly sunny day, with morning northwesterlies making way for westerlies, and then southwesterlies by afternoon.
