Melbourne, Victoria struck by rare damaging earthquake

BREAKING — A very rare damaging earthquake has hit Australia this morning, in the state of Victoria. Centred not far from Melbourne the quake is estimated to have been M5.8 and at a depth of 10km. (via USGS – most trusted for consistent global quake measurements).

It was centred 38km from Mount Buller in the Alps in eastern Victoria.

Some tweets show damage to downtown Melbourne.
