Melbourne is on a temperature rollercoaster

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A couple of blasts of autumn will turn a late season warm-up into an early season cool-down for Melbourne.

Melbourne’s forecasted high for Saturday is 25.  If that happens, that will be the warmest they have been this late in the season since 2005.

But that warm air will be going away in short order.

The leading edge of colder air is due to arrive on Saturday night.  That will turn the temperatures downward for Sunday with highs struggling to hit 20.

Clouds and rain will keep temperatures on the cool side for the early part of the week with highs in the upper teens.  On Wednesday, a reinforcing shot of cold air will arrive sending highs into the middle teens for Wednesday and Thursday.
