Weekend Newsfeed: Sun – More settled. Mon – Severe weather risks

Sunday: In the North Island fairly light west to south-west winds blow by, making for sunniest and driest weather in the east.

A few showers and cloudy spells (usual weather!) are possible in the west of the North Island, even if mostly dry overall.

The very southern West Coast has rain or showers, most likely south of the glaciers in particular. This is due to a cold front and low pressure zone moving in. Rain warnings are expected.

Nor’West winds pick up during the day with afternoon or evening north-west gales ahead of a rough day on Monday in some regions with heavy rain, western thunderstorms, alpine snow and severe gales spreading across a number of regions.
