Mainland madness, Temps range from 13-30!

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Very strong westerlies are pummelling the deep south with gusts up to 110 kph in Invercargill this afternoon but winds over Campbell and Enderby Islands are topping the 140 mark as the southern ocean storm rolls on.
Our Invercargill roving eye, Malcolm Gayfer said the average wind speeds in the southern city are near the 70kph level.
The strong gale in Southland has kept the temperature down to a very cool 13 degrees but further north, Cantabrians are once again stealing the show with Christchurch topping 30 degrees.
Just 48 hours ago, the reading in the city was 8 degrees with rain and a strong southerly.
