Looking good (mostly) Wednesday’s situation & outlook

> From the WeatherWatch archives

We are looking at some (thankfully) warmer weather tomorrow in most of the country, after a decidedly frosty start this morning gave way to finer conditions in the afternoon.

North Island

The whole island is looking pretty good – most areas can look forward to west to southwesterly breezes and generally sunny weather.

Cloud may be more frequent from Taranaki southwards in the west – while the Bay of Plenty and most of the East Coast is looking fine – with just some light winds.
Northwesterlies may freshen up in the late afternoon and early evening about Wairarapa.

South Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud is looking likely in the east, with increasing northeasterlies along the coast.
Northwesterly winds will build in the afternoon in inland Marlborough too.

Those northwesterlies will also spread to coastal Otago later in the afternoon, and to Canterbury by evening – and some brief rain may pass through into Canterbury, for places south of Banks Peninsula.
Southland and inland Otago are looking at periods of thick, high cloud and a spot of rain to start the day, then again to finish it.
