Serious but lower end tsunami are currently affecting eastern Japan – around Fukushima.
Below is live streaming television via Japan state news.
The USGS downgraded the quake to a M6.9 but it was shallow and just 50kms east of the coastline out at sea.
At least 2 tsunami have been viewed below – and despite the damaging tsunami in 2011 Japan has quite a strong tsunami protection system designed precisely for events like this.
There is NO tsunami threat to New Zealand.
