Kiwis out and about urged to respect landowners this summer

> From the WeatherWatch archives

People enjoying the country’s beaches, forests, rivers and mountains these holidays are being urged to show respect for landowners.

The Walking Access Commission says most are happy to grant access across their property…when they’re asked.

However it says it’s important people using the outdoors for recreation repay that trust by acting responsibly.

The New Zealand Outdoor Access Code has clear guidelines, which are on the Commission’s website.

It offers handy hints such as walking in single file around stock and leaving gates as they’re found.
