International: 9/11 weather forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A rain storm on the East Coast is producing plenty of rain from New Jersey to southern New England for this morning’s 9/11 remembrance ceremonies.

A persistent easterly wind will create rough surf, dangerous rip currents, coastal flooding at high tide and moderate beach erosion.

As of 1:30am NZT heavy rain was falling on the Pentagon where President Obama stood during a special ceremony to remember the victims of that horrific morning eight years ago.

At 2am patchy rain was falling across NY and PA states during the several moments of silence.

Rain will fall from southeast New York through eastern Pennsylvania – affecting all three areas where planes crashed in 2001.

Temperatures Friday EST will be below average under the clouds, wind and rain.
