Interactive: See the size of the BP oil spill over your region

> From the WeatherWatch archives

BP’s huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a bit hard for us to comprehend, being so far away from it all.

We’ve found this interactive link which shows you the current oil spill along the US coastline, but then converts it to New Zealand.

Simply add the name of the town or city you’re in and it will convert the oil slick to a map of New Zealand, with your location in the middle.

Just gives you an idea as to how many people and how much wildlife is affected by this terrible disaster.

Click here to activate the map.
