Southerlies for most of the South Island today while about the North Island winds tend more southeast as a low is centred near Northland. Anticyclonic conditions for most of the South Island on Thursday with a light southerly airflow still present, south to southeasterly winds continue over the North Island. Weak anticyclonic conditions for much of the country on Friday.
For the day’s noted below, the West Coast of the South Island looks to be the place to be with mainly sunny conditions over the next three days.
Wednesday
Blue – Morning heavy rain eases Auckland southwards, later in the evening rain may become heavy again about the Bay Of Plenty. Rain about Gisborne through to Hawkes Bay, chance of a heavy fall now and then although heavy falls are more likely overnight.
Purple – Southeasterly winds about the Coromandel may be gusty / strong during the day then easing in the evening.
Thursday
Blue – Rain about Hawkes Bay manages to linger for an extra day, chance of a heavy fall then easing from afternoon. Gisborne sees the a few heavy falls, not easing till overnight.
Friday
A mainly calm situation for much of New Zealand.
