A weakening front crosses over the North Island on Wednesday, a ridge builds over the South Island then the North Island later in the day.

Areas of cloud and occasional sun for the upper North Island, a few isolated showers in the afternoon, more so about Auckland, the Waikato and perhaps Bay Of Plenty. Light northwesterly winds.

Cloudy areas and a few showers for the lower North Island in the west, especially morning then gradually easing from afternoon. Light winds. Sunny areas along the east coast, light northwesterlies change southeast in the afternoon bringing increasing cloud and perhaps a few patchy showers.

Sunny spells for Wellington with south to southeasterly winds.

A mix of sun and cloud about Nelson and Marlborough, light winds. Any early showers clear Canterbury then sunny spells break through in the afternoon, light east to northeast winds.

Any morning cloud clears the West Coast, Southland and Otago to mostly sunny weather, light winds.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation or cold temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
