Low pressure sits over the upper North Island on Wednesday while an east to northeasterly airflow covers the rest of New Zealand.

Northland and Auckland see mainly cloudy skies and showers, a chance one or two may be heavy late afternoon / evening. Winds are light.

For the Bay Of Plenty and the rest of the western North Island conditions may be mainly dry in the morning with some sun. Showers moving in during the afternoon with a few isolated heavy falls possible, more so about western parts of the North Island.

Cloudy for the east coast of the North Island with areas of rain or showers, easterly winds.

Cloudy for the east coast of the South Island, areas of rain or showers about Nelson and Marlborough. Canterbury may be dry first thing then showery conditions moving in late morning. Coastal Otago may not see drizzle till later in the evening.

Western parts of the South Island see sunny spells, showers move into much of North Westland in the afternoon however. Also the ranges of Fiordland, western Southland and inland Otago in the west may see isolated showers late afternoon / evening with the low risk of a heavy fall then easing later in the evening. Winds are mainly light.
