A weakening front moves northwards over the South Island during Tuesday while another weak feature may trigger some heavy isolated showers for Northland / Auckland in the afternoon.

Sunny spells and isolated showers possible in the afternoon for the upper North Island, especially for Northland and Auckland with the risk of a heavy fall. Southwesterly winds. Sunny spells with the low risk of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening for the lower western North Island, mainly dry otherwise. West to northwesterly winds.

Sunny weather along the east coast, there may be some evening cloud with the risk of a shower otherwise mainly dry. Light winds tend easterly in the afternoon. Sunny spells for Wellington with northerly winds.

Mostly sunny about Nelson and Marlborough with some developing high cloud, may be an isolated shower late afternoon or evening about inland hills and ranges otherwise fairly dry. Light winds in the morning then afternoon sea breezes. Mostly cloudy for Canterbury with southerlies tending easterly in the afternoon, some drizzle about South Canterbury spreads northwards in the afternoon.

Periods of cloud and a few showers along the West Coast, some sun at times. Becoming mainly dry about South Westland from afternoon then evening further north. Westerlies gradually tend southwest as the day moves along. Periods of cloud and a few showers about Southland and Otago, west to southwesterly winds.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation – or – low temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
White – Snow
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
