A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand on Friday as a front and low combination move in from the Tasman Sea, another low moves down from the north.

A chance of morning fog again about Auckland, the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty then expect high cloud thickening and lowering during the day, chance of a shower or two from afternoon in the east then some overnight rain. Breezy east to northeasterly winds.

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud for the lower North Island in the west, overnight rain. East to northeasterly winds.

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud along the east coast, overnight spots of rain. Light northeasterly winds. High cloud increases from morning about Wellington then expect some overnight rain, northerly winds.

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud for Nelson and Marlborough, some rain about Nelson and western Marlborough from evening possibly heavy about Tasman. Light north to northwesterly winds. Canterbury, sunny areas and increasing high cloud with light north to northeasterly winds.

The odd drizzle patch about South Westland, thickening high cloud elsewhere. Drizzle becoming more widespread in the evening then turning to rain which may be heavy in a few isolated spots, northeasterly winds. Thick high cloud for Southland and Otago with areas of sun breaking through at times, rain develops later in the evening / overnight as light northwest winds change southwest.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation or cold temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
