A front passes over the North Island on Friday morning then off to the northeast in the afternoon, a westerly airflow lies over the rest of the country.

Mostly cloudy about the upper North Island, a few showers then clearing in the afternoon as northwesterlies change southwest. Sunny spells break through after showers clear. Northland may see showers develop a little later in the morning then clear later in the afternoon.

Any early showers clear for the lower North Island in the west then becoming mainly sunny, breezy westerlies. The east coast sees high cloud, a spot of rain possible otherwise mainly dry then high cloud decreases during the afternoon.

Temperatures reaching into the mid to late 20’s for much of the North Island. Early 30’s possible for some parts of the eastern North Island.

Cloudy for the West Coast of the South Island with occasional showers. Nelson through to Canterbury is mainly sunny, perhaps some high cloud at times. Afternoon high’s for Canterbury through to Nelson reaching into the mid 20’s. Winds mainly from the west or northwest although a northeast breeze may develop right on the coastal fringe for the east coast in the afternoon.

Southland and Otago sees cloudy areas and occasional sun, perhaps a shower or two also otherwise fairly dry. Showers if anything are more likely later in the day. Winds from the west or northwest although they may tend northeast in the afternoon for coastal Otago.

Strong winds
Yellow
Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
