A front feeds onto the South Island tomorrow from the west, gradually moving northwards onto the lower North Island afternoon / evening. A strong northwesterly airflow covers most of New Zealand.
The North Island is mainly cloudy tomorrow although there may be some sun at times about Northland. Showers or brief rain at times for most. The southwest corner of the North Island sees rain at times which may be heavy from afternoon. Northwesterlies about Wellington becoming strong in the afternoon.
Rain for the West Coast of the South Island with heavy falls at times especially about North Westland, gradually easing there during the afternoon and evening moving northwards. Nelson and Marlborough see cloudy skies with rain at times, more frequent for Nelson. Canterbury sees thick high cloud in the morning with a few spots of rain, sun breaking through in the afternoon. Northwesterly winds becoming gusty / strong in the afternoon for eastern parts of the South Island, winds may gust to gale at times in exposed areas.
Southland and Otago see sunny areas, a few showers move into Southland and coastal Otago in the afternoon with the chance of an isolated heavy fall. Winds from the west.
