A weakening front crosses the North Island today, northwesterlies lie over the South Island however a southerly flick moves up through Otago and Canterbury during the day. Anticyclonic for most of New Zealand on Wednesday.

A few brief morning showers for the western North Island today then sunny areas increase from afternoon, mostly sunny in the east. Showers breaking to afternoon sunny spells for the South Island’s West Coast, showers may not totally clear till evening. A few showers about Southland and Otago ease during the day, clearing by evening also. Mostly sunny for Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury. Some evening cloud moves into Canterbury.

Mostly sunny for the North Island on Wednesday, some morning cloud in the southwest. The South Island has a mostly sunny day also, some morning cloud breaks on the West Coast. Fiordland sees showers from afternoon then overnight rain.
