A front moves northwards over the South Island during Tuesday meanwhile conditions are still fairly settled further north.
Mostly sunny for the upper North Island on Tuesday, there may be a few early mist or fog patches Waikato northwards then quickly clearing. Sunny and hot in the east with some developing high cloud. Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells in the southwest.
Rain pushes northwards along the West Coast of the South Island during the day. Morning showers move through Southland then into Otago during the afternoon, not reaching Canterbury till overnight.
