A front brings a chance of thunderstorms this morning for the North Island then easing to showers, cool for the South Island but brightening up for South Westland. A westerly airflow lies over the North Island on Friday meanwhile a weak low covers the south Island.
Rain or showers for most of the North Island today, thunderstorms possible from Auckland through to the Bay Of Plenty then easing this afternoon. Conditions gradually ease over the South Island although rain or showers may linger about the upper half through till evening, the odd heavy fall is even possible for the northwest Nelson area.
Sunny spells for Northland and Auckland on Friday, there may be a shower at times mainly in the west. A mix of sun and cloud for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. A dry morning for the lower western North Island then showers develop in the afternoon, easing overnight. Mainly dry in the morning for the east coast also, showers from afternoon possibly heavy with thunderstorms (mainly about the ranges) then easing at night. A fair majority of the South Island starts off dry then showers develop in the afternoon, especially for inland areas. Coastal parts could stay dry but showers may spread in during the evening. Showery conditions ease overnight.
