A ridge lies over much of the country on Saturday, easterlies about the far north and westerlies for the far south. A northerly airflow lies over the country on Sunday.
A few showers continue to pepper northeastern parts of the North Island on Saturday, mainly dry elsewhere with a chance of fog in the morning for inland areas. Some cloud for the western South Island on Saturday, high cloud with some sun at times out east. Fiordland sees some rain or showers, the odd spit may spread into Southland at times.
A few showers once again for northeastern parts of the North Island on Sunday, expect long dry spells also. Mainly dry elsewhere however expect plenty of high cloud, some morning fog possible inland. Rain or showers for the South Islands West Coast, dry out east but expect increasing high cloud.
