Ex TC Uesi weakens south of New Zealand today, meanwhile a light northerly airflow flows over the country moving around an anticyclone to the east of the North Island. This high continues to sit out to the east on Tuesday directing a warm humid northerly airflow over the country.
Cloudy areas for the upper North Island today, some sun also especially afternoon for Northland and Auckland. There may be a light shower or drizzle patch about the Bay Of Plenty at times. Mainly dry in the east with high cloud, cloudier in the southwest (Taranaki to Wellington) with a few showers or drizzle patches. Rain or showers for the West Coast of the South Island easing today, rain may be heavy this morning about Buller. Mainly dry in the east however late afternoon / evening isolated showers develop Banks Peninsula southwards through to Otago, some of these showers may become heavy then easing at night.
A mix of sun and cloud for the North Island on Tuesday with humid northerly quarter winds, mainly dry in the morning apart from the odd light shower for Kapiti / Wellington. During the afternoon the odd isolated shower develops, especially about the ranges of Hawkes Bay / Gisborne then easing overnight. Some rain or showers for the West Coast of the South Island. Sunny areas and some high cloud out east, isolated showers develop late afternoon / evening about Southland / Otago, some may become heavy then easing at night.
