> From the WeatherWatch archives

A large anticyclone centred in the south Tasman Sea directs a southwesterly airflow over New Zealand today and on Tuesday.

Mostly sunny for the North Island today, expect some cloud in the west especially this morning, some cloud possible this morning for eastern Bay Of Plenty also. Winds are mostly light with afternoon sea breezes. The South Island has a mainly sunny day also, any morning cloud about Canterbury, Otago and Southland breaks away.

Some cloud for western parts of the North Island again on Tuesday, some coastal areas may see cloud linger for much of the day. Mostly sunny elsewhere. The South Island has a mostly sunny day, a few areas of morning cloud for some then breaking away. Cloud may be a little more persistent during the day about coastal Southland and the Catlins.
