> From the WeatherWatch archives

Mainly anticyclonic and settled today, meanwhile a large low lies to the northeast but mostly this shouldn’t affect our weather. Similar conditions on Tuesday with the large low to the northeast moving away.

Mostly sunny for the western North Island today, the odd light shower in the east eases with dry spells increasing from afternoon, the odd light shower may linger about Gisborne till evening. Low cloud or fog possible again about Wellington then lifting in the afternoon. Sunny areas and some high cloud for the South Island, plenty of morning cloud about coastal areas then breaking away. Risk of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland parts of the lower South Island.

A risk of morning fog for many parts of the North Island on Tuesday morning mainly just inland away from the coast. Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud after any low cloud or fog clears. Sunny areas and some high cloud for the South Island, plenty of morning cloud about coastal areas then breaking away. Risk of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland parts of the lower South Island.
