A ridge keeps conditions settled over the North Island today, northwesterlies over the South Island bring hot temperatures in the east and some rain to Fiordland. Still fairly settled for the North Island on Saturday under a ridge of high pressure although there may be a shower or two about, a front pushes northwards and weakens over the South Island during the day.
Further mainly sunny and settled weather continues for the North Island on Friday, just some cloud about Kapiti / Wellington.
A few morning showers clear the West Coast of the South Island then sunny areas develop, showers linger about Fiordland turning to rain in the afternoon and becoming heavy. This heavy rain then spreads northwards overnight. Out east it’s warmer and drier with some high cloud.
Generally settled for the North Island on Saturday, there may be a shower or two about in the afternoon / evening for western and upper North Island regions but overall it is still quite dry. Morning heavy rain for the West Coast of the South Island then easing and clearing in the afternoon, mainly dry out east with some high cloud. Morning showers about Southland and Otago clear then sunny areas increase.
