A low pressure system moves over the North Island on Friday, southerlies develop further south.

Rain or showers for most of the North Island on Friday, possibly heavy in some areas.

Morning showers clear the West Coast of the South Island then mostly sunny, a dry morning out east then cloud builds in the afternoon with showers possible mainly inland. Showers spread to most coastal areas in the evening.
