Icy, dangerous, conditions in deep south

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s been an icty start to the day in Southland with our Invercargill reporter Malcolm Gayfer telling us they had a 7 deg frost overnight.

Mr Gayfer said fog also rolled in across some sheltered streets making roads extremely slippery.

Police were also warning Southland motorists of icy conditions this morning after a vehicle rolled near Invercargill.

Emergency services from Riverton were at the scene of a crash around 9am on the Riverton-Wallacetown Highway (State Highway 99) near Livingstone Road.

Police said a vehicle appears to have rolled, but the two occupants appear to have escaped injury.

A 7 degree frost two days in a row. Had to laugh reading an article in the paper about yesterdays frost and Metservice saying that it wouldn’t be the same overnight!
