Rain and wind will be the main risk factors today in places – though they will be isolated and fairly mild.
South Island
A front moving north over the South Island will deliver a few heavy falls on the West Coast – nothing the region can’t handle, but something for people to keep an eye on if they’re spending time outdoors today.
Northwesterlies will get up a bit in North Canterbury, Marlborough and the Cook Strait area – including Wellington – but they shouldn’t be too much to worry about.
Southerlies will moves in towards coastal Canterbury around midday, then Kaikoura, and up to Wellington and the Wairarapa in the evening.
Southerlies will be gusty and strong at times – but nothing these places aren’t used to!
