Another warning about the risks of the water, after a dangerous week at beaches.
Surf life-saving clubs have recorded several near-misses.
Water Safety New Zealand’s Matt Claridge says people need to keep themselves safe.
“Make sure that you know your limits and match your ability to the conditions because we’ve seen too many drownings this holiday period,” he says.
An 11-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl died in two separate drownings this week.
