Gisborne, Hawkes Bay: Becoming wet

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Over the next 2-3 days, eastern areas of the North island could be in for a soaking.

Rain, with some heavy falls are expected over parts of the Gisborne and Hawkes Bay regions  as a southeast wind starts to gain strength.

This moisture is expected to head further north, west and south of the area within the next 48 hours but it’s unlikely to have the same sort of intensity.

Thunderstorms are again anticipated for some central areas of the North Island after a week of activity which has seen some tremendous lighting displays, however they maybe less robust and more isolated. Further south, a southerly change is moving north over eastern areas of the mainland delivering some showers, possibly heavy, as the cooler air replaces the more sultry conditions.
