Gales hammer Invercargill but temps rise in Sthld & Otago

Southland continues to be hammered by gale force westerlies with gusts over 90km/h being recorded in Invercargill.

Another deep low pressure system is passing south of New Zealand continuing the relentless assault on the region.

Conditions are still fairly cool in Invercargill but overall Southland and Otago has, for the first time this week, started to warm up a little says WeatherWatch.co.nz.

This hour Invercargill has 10 degrees along with Gore and Queenstown.

Dunedin has 9 degrees this hour, but just up the road Oamaru has 18.

Strong nor’westers have also bumped Christchurch up to 18 degrees.
