Gales and rain – Weather risks on Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Over the country today we have a strong northwesterly airflow – which will affect the upper South Island and lower North – particularly in the morning.

Wellington in particular will be blown about, and winds may approach gale force in the east of the South Island – mainly inland and about Cook Strait.
During the afternoon, though, winds will gradually ease.

As for rain, there may be a few heavy falls for Buller and the Tasman region during the day – otherwise it’s not looking too bad.
