Temperatures are going to rise for eastern parts of both islands this Friday and Saturday as a nor’west flow develops over the country.
Eastern parts of the South Island have struggled to even reach the 20s lately but on Friday highs in the mid to late 20s are predicted.
The strong winds are expected to reach gale force in exposed parts of Canterbury, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa.
MetService is also monitoring the approaching winds saying there is a “moderate risk” of gales reaching severe in the above regions.
And next week another low is predicted to bring unsettled weather to the country.
WeatherWatch.co.nz believes the ‘best’ of the summer weather is now over for many parts of the South Island and Wellington with winds predicted to pick up from the south west over the coming week or two.
