Frontal system – Situation & outlook for Friday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A front is moving onto the lower South Island tomorrow, before heading northwards before evening – though it will weaken as it moves.

The North Island lies under a ridge of high pressure, meaning generally settled weather for most – although for western parts of the island, from Auckland down to Wellington, isolated showers may crop up in the afternoon.
These showers could well become heavy, and there is a low risk of thunderstorms, though it won’t be a repeat of today!
