Here’s what is making the weather headlines today…..

DAMPENED SPIRITS BUT NOT DOWN AND OUT

A southerly quarter airflow brings some wet weather to New Zealand today, especially in the east. The West Coast clears up and the upper North Island likely only sees a few showers. Apart from Waikato (more so in the east), Bay Of Plenty and Coromandel this evening where a few heavy showers move through.

Metservice have a few watches out, regarding winds through Cook Strait and the potential for heavy rain about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne right through till Sunday.

FROST RISK

Chance of a light frost about the inner South Island on Saturday morning, a lesser chance for Sunday morning.

A TOUCH OF SNOW FOR THE RANGES

Only a little snow for the ranges thanks to the cold south to southwesterly airflow today, the Kaikoura ranges area looks to see the most snow.
