Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
CLEAR SKIES, FROSTY START
A slower news day today, that means conditions are quite settled, but in a way settled weather is news as we haven’t had much of that lately.
It would have been a frosty start, especially for the inner South Island with temperatures at their coldest below -5 in spots.
HEAVY RAIN FOR THE WEST COAST ON SUNDAY
A front moves north over the South Island on Sunday, heavy rain pushes northwards along the West Coast during the day.

RAINFALL OUTLOOK
Little bit of a mixed bag for the next six days. The only main difference from our last rain outlook on Tuesday earlier this week is the eastern South Island is looking drier now.
The map below runs through to Thursday 17th August. Blue coloring means that part of the country is likely to see more rainfall than would normally be expected at this time of year, red means less rainfall is expected and white is an average amount of rainfall. The more intense either red or blue then either scenario is more true.
