Temperatures aloft are a little cool as it has been for the last we while leading to afternoon thunderstorms, today is no different with much of the South Island and parts of the lower North Island in with a chance of storms.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny after any morning fog clears, some cloud about western coastal parts may bring a shower or two. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-25
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, a few showers about coastal Taranaki in the morning then the odd one elsewhere late afternoon and evening possibly becoming heavy with thunder. Northerly winds.
Highs: 19-23
Eastern North Island
A mix of sun and cloud, isolated showers develop south of Napier in the afternoon, one or two may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing at night. Afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-26
Wellington
Partly cloudy, isolated showers possible late afternoon or evening especially inland where one or two may be heavy. Northerly winds.
Highs: 19-23
Marlborough & Nelson
Partly cloudy, afternoon isolated showers, possible heavy with thunder then clearing at night. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 20-22
Canterbury
Partly cloudy, isolated showers develop in the afternoon especially about inland areas, some may become heavy with thunder then clearing in the evening. Easterly winds.
High: 18-23
West Coast
Partly cloudy, chance of a shower. Isolated showers develop about the ranges in the afternoon, one or two may become heavy then clearing evening. Light winds tend west to southwest after midday.
Highs: 20-23
Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, isolated afternoon showers especially inland, some may become heavy with thunderstorms then easing at night. Light winds tend onshore after midday.
