A southwesterly airflow continues over the country today with rain or showers mostly expected in the east today although there will still be a few in the west.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, the odd shower for western Waikato up through to Northland then clearing away during the afternoon. Bay Of Plenty has a mainly sunny and dry day. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-22
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy with westerlies changing around to the south late afternoon, a few showers mainly closer to the eastern ranges.
Highs: 14-19
Eastern North Island
Showers develop about Wairarapa in the morning then pushing northwards late afternoon or evening with southerly winds, sun before showers move in.
Highs: 17-22
Wellington
Dry first thing with some sun then showers develop during the morning as southerlies freshen, showers clear at night.
Highs: 15-17
Marlborough & Nelson
Dry at first with some sun, showers develop late morning for Marlborough as southerlies freshen, showers for Nelson in the afternoon, clearing overnight.
Highs: 17-20
Canterbury
Rain eases to showers in the morning, dry spells more frequent from afternoon but the odd shower continues now and then. South to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16
West Coast
Partly cloudy with a few showers, clearing in the afternoon. Southwesterly winds tend to the south in the evening. Fiordland and into South Westland may be dry all day with sun.
Highs: 16-18
Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas and occasional showers, thinning out in the afternoon and mostly clearing in the evening. Southwesterly winds, fresh about coastal parts.
Highs: 12-15
