A low pressure system brings instability to the North Island today meanwhile further south conditions are mainly settled, expect patchy rain or showers for Nelson / Marlborough and the Kaikoura area though.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy with isolated showers, some may become heavy this afternoon with thunderstorms and hail then easing this evening. Northerly quarter winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Scattered rain clearing away early afternoon, isolated showers then develop, some may be heavy with thunder and hail before easing this evening. Southeasterlies (strong about the coast) ease this afternoon.
Highs: 12-18

Eastern North Island

Rain with heavy falls possible, easing this morning north of Napier, easing further south later this afternoon or evening. Showers develop about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon, some may be heavy with thunderstorms and hail (especially about the ranges) then easing this evening.
Highs: 14-17

Wellington

Patchy rain or showers, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson

Patchy rain or showers, rain may become a little more persistent about Marlborough from afternoon. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury

Low cloud or fog possible in the morning then some sun, Banks Peninsula northwards sees cloud thicken in the morning then thickening further south in the afternoon. Showers develop about Kaikoura turning to rain in the afternoon, drizzle reaches down to Banks Peninsula in the evening. East to northeasterly winds.

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 18-22

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some low cloud or fog possible morning and night. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-19
