A low moving in from the northwest brings some heavy rain to central parts of the country today.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with showers, more persistent from afternoon perhaps turning to areas of rain. Fresh humid northeasterlies, gusty .
Highs: 20-22
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy, a few light showers move into Taranaki / Kapiti during the morning then becoming widespread in the afternoon and turning to rain. Rain becomes heavy by evening. Northeasterlies, becoming strong for coastal Taranaki.
Highs: 17-23
Eastern North Island
Cloud thickens south of Napier, rain develops in the afternoon becoming heavy in the evening. Further north expect some morning sun then cloud thickens, scattered rain develops in the evening. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-24
Wellington
The odd spit or shower, turning to rain in the afternoon, later this evening or overnight rain may be heavy. Northerlies.

Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy, light showers turn to rain in the morning, heavy falls possible from afternoon especially about the Sounds and Tasman. Light northerlies.

Canterbury
Mostly cloudy with light showers turning to rain in the morning, easing in the evening and clearing around midnight. Parts of Southern South Canterbury may stay dry all day. Light winds.

West Coast
Rain north of the Glaciers with a few heavy falls, easing later in the day. Fiordland is dry with sun, southern Fiordland may see a morning shower then again overnight. Light winds.

Mostly sunny, morning cloud for Southland breaks away, cloud again later in the day. Light winds.
