A northerly airflow lies over the country today with rain or showers in the west, drier in the east although a few spits of rain may reach the North Island’s east coast. Hot for the eastern South Island.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Humid with showers, heavy showers possible especially in the afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms, easing later. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-26
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain then isolated showers in the afternoon, one or two may become heavy with thunder, more so inland. Sunny spells sneak through after midday also. Humid northerly winds.
Highs: 23-27
Eastern North Island
Morning spots of rain clear, sun gradually breaks through in the afternoon, chance of an isolated shower developing south of Napier. Humid north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 26-28
Wellington
Morning spits or showers then afternoon sunny spells, breezy northerly winds.

Marlborough & Nelson
Nelson has showers, Marlborough has morning cloud and a few showers then breaking to a mostly sunny afternoon. North to northwesterly winds.

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with morning cloud clearing away, hot temperatures with northerlies tending more to the northwest after midday.
Highs: 28-32
West Coast
Rain, heavy falls south of Greymouth then easing up from afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-23
Southland & Otago
Morning cloud and a few spits possible then breaking to afternoon sun. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening. Light winds tend to the north, a sea breeze possible for coastal parts.
