A high pressure system covers the South Island today, southeasterlies further north.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers clear then expect sunny spells, for Coromandel and northern Auckland expect occasional showers for much of the day. Northland has some rain which eases in the evening. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, any early showers clear north Taranaki. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-17

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Morning cloud then sunny spells, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud for Marlborough, perhaps some drizzle then afternoon sunny spells, southeasterly winds. Nelson has morning cloud too then mostly sunny, afternoon northerlies.
Highs: 13-16

Canterbury

Morning cloud then sunny spells, Kaikoura may have morning drizzle. Further inland conditions are mostly sunny all day after any early mist or fog clears.
Highs: 12-16

West Coast

Sunny, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-20

Southland & Otago
Any morning cloud clears then sunny with light winds, afternoon northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-20
