A high pressure system moves in from the Tasman sea today bringing settled weather, still some cloud and a few showers to go for coastal parts in the east.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, Northland has some cloud. South to southwesterly winds die out in the evening. Afternoon sea breezes develop for coastal Bay Of Plenty up through to eastern Northland.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, a few afternoon clouds. Southerly quarter winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 8-15
Eastern North Island
Partly cloudy, showers for coastal Wairarapa and perhaps Mahia Peninsula ease clearing in the afternoon. Fresh southwesterlies, strong about the coast, die out later in the day.
Highs: 11-16
Wellington
Any morning showers clear (mainly in the east), morning cloud clears to sunny weather. Fresh southerlies die out later in the day.

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny after a frosty start, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14
Canterbury
Sunny, a frosty start. Morning cloud near the coast with a few showers for Banks Peninsula, clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon. Light winds for most but fresh southwesterlies about the coast ease and die out in the evening.

West Coast
Sunny with morning frosts, light winds tend north to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-17
Southland & Otago
Morning cloud then sunny, frosty inland to start. Southwesterly winds die away, strong about coastal Otago at first then gradually easing.
