A front pushes down over the upper North Island today although it is fairly slow moving, in behind the front some instability this afternoon, Northland especially. The South Island is fairly settled.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Northland may see some dry weather this morning with sun then showers develop towards midday pushing in from the west, showers may be heavy in spots with thunder during the afternoon, winds from the west or northwest. Early rain eases to occasional showers and sunny spells for Auckland. Waikato has occasional showers, clearing in the evening. Coromandel has rain (possibly heavy), moving into western Bay Of Plenty during the morning, eastern Bay Of Plenty may not see showers till evening. East to northeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, Taranaki catches cloud and a few showers, more so from afternoon. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 10 – 14
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny, some cloud starts to move in from afternoon, late afternoon or evening expect showers. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13 – 14
Wellington
Sunny with easterly winds.

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny for Marlborough, Tasman and Nelson has a mix of sun and cloud, Tasman may have a shower or two. Cloud thickens later in the day for Marlborough with overnight drizzle possible. Light east to northeast winds.
Highs: 12 – 14
Canterbury
Mostly sunny, some cloud about the coast morning and night, overnight drizzle. East to northeasterly winds a little breezy in the afternoon across the plains. Cold day time highs for some inland valleys and basins.
Highs: 6 – 14
West Coast
Mostly sunny, a few showers for Fiordland. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13 – 15
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with high cloud thinning out in the afternoon, light winds. Northeasterlies a bit breezy for coastal Otago.
