A front moves over the North Island today with rain in the west, a few spits in the east. The South Island is under an easing westerly airflow with wet weather in the west and far south, dry and sunny in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
The odd shower turns to rain around midday as northwesterlies change southwest, rain clears late afternoon or evening with some late sun. The odd shower remains in the west.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain then increasing sun as gusty northwesterlies change westerly (strong about the coast), the odd shower continues for Taranaki.
Highs: 12-18

Eastern North Island

High cloud, spots of rain for Wairarapa in the morning then further north in the afternoon as a front moves through, sun breaks through once spits clear. Northwesterlies change westerly.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington

Morning showers clear, becoming mostly sunny after midday with strong northwesterlies easing.
Highs: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning showers clear Tasman and Nelson, sunny otherwise with breezy westerlies, winds tend southwest for Nelson.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury

Sunny, early rain in the high country clears. Strong northwesterlies ease in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-18

West Coast

Showers, heavy at times with snow above 700m, rain for Fiordland with snow possibly getting down to 600m especially in the south. Fresh west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 11-15

Southland & Otago
Early rain then showers for Southland and the Lakes District, snow above 700m, maybe 600m for Southland. Otago has morning rain clear then sunny spells, showers may still move in from the south at times especially evening. Brisk to strong westerly winds.
Highs: 10-14
