Settled for the North Island today apart from the Central Plateau which may see heavy afternoon showers thanks to unstable conditions. A front moves into the far south bringing some rain, a few showers spread up the east coast this evening / overnight.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mist or fog possible morning and night, mainly inland away from the coast. Mostly sunny by day with a touch of high cloud. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 24-26
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mist or fog possible morning and night, mostly sunny otherwise with a touch of high cloud. Isolated showers may develop in the afternoon, about the Central North Island showers may become heavy with thunder. Light winds tend to the west after midday.
Highs: 21-24
Eastern North Island
Sunny, a touch of high cloud. Isolated showers develop in the afternoon for the ranges of northern Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay, one or two may become heavy, clearing at night. Light northeasterlies.
Highs: 24-26
Wellington
Partly cloudy, chance of a shower or spit in the north (upper Hutt etc). Breezy northerly winds.
Highs: 21-24
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny, any morning cloud for Marlborough breaks away, evening spots of rain possible, winds from the north. Nelson stays dry with sun and some high cloud, westerly winds. Overnight expect a southerly change.
Highs: 24-28
Canterbury
Mostly sunny, any morning coastal cloud clears. North of Banks Peninsula a few spots of rain develop late afternoon or evening meanwhile showers develop for South Canterbury in the evening as winds change southwest. Showers spread northwards overnight.
Highs: 23-26
West Coast
Mostly sunny, some rain moves in north of Hokitika from midday, clearing overnight. Further south expect sun, rain for Fiordland from midday clears overnight. Winds are light tending southwest later.
Highs: 20-24
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, mid afternoon northwesterlies change southwest bringing some rain for Southland, only a few showers reach Otago in the evening, clearing overnight.
Highs: 21-27
