A lot of the unstable weather from yesterday moves away today out to the east, perhaps some parts of the lower North Island may continue to see a thunderstorms or two. A few showers continue in a west to southwesterly airflow.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers ease becoming few from afternoon, dry after midday for Bay Of Plenty. Sunny spells increase. Fresh westerly winds gradually ease during the day.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning showers possibly heavy with thunderstorms and hail then easing with sunny spells increasing from midday, only the odd shower remaining by evening. West to northwesterly winds fresh about the coast.
Highs: 12-18

Eastern North Island

North of about Napier conditions are mainly dry with a mix of sun and cloud. Further south expect showers, showers may be heavy with thunderstorms and hail in the morning for Wairarapa then easing, clearing in the evening. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-23

Wellington

Early heavy showers with hail ease, sunny spells break through before midday as light winds tend northwest.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough & Nelson

A mix of sun and cloud, any early showers clear Marlborough. Chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon about inland hills / ranges. West to southwesterly winds, afternoon easterlies for Marlborough.
Highs: 18-20

Canterbury

A mix of sun and cloud, any early coastal showers clear. In the afternoon a few isolated showers possible as light winds tend east to northeast.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast

Occasional showers with southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Southland & Otago
Early rain eases to showers for Southland, Otago has partly cloudy skies with a few isolated showers late afternoon / evening. Westerly winds, breezy about the coast.
Highs: 14-19
